Principle and Function

The Wamechsi Group Hydro Conveyor are used to convey grit which has been separated from the wastewater by the Rotary Drum Screens/Spiral Screw Screens. This screen conveyor mainly consists of a transportation section that conveys the screenings to a screw compactor or discharges the screenings into a waste bins.

The Wamechsi Group’s Screenings Hydro Conveyor consists of the following key parts:

-          Hydro Conveyor Washing Water System

The installation of Hydro Conveyor Washing Water System enables the screw conveyor to transport the screenings due to water flow as result of gravity. This is crucial in automating the sewage treatment facility. It is however still required to do regular checkups in order to notice any unusual debris that may influence the effectiveness and/or working of the machine.

-          Transportation Chute

The conveyors can be enclosed with external U-shaped chute or tubular version. The inclination can be from 0° horizontal and / or up to 45 °. The flows through this channel conveying the screenings from the front rake screen towards the washing screw compactor. It is important to ensure that no high density screenings obstruct the flow of the water in the u-channel.

-          Discharge Chute

The screenings are conveyed to the top of the Screenings Hydro Conveyor where it discharges into a compacting system where is will be further processed by a washing screw compactor before the screenings is discharged into a waste bin or depending on customer preference.

-          Conveyor Base:

The conveyor base is used to fix the U-channel to the floor at an elevated height to ensure that no hazardous material will come in contact with the operator of the machine.

-          Supports:

As seen in figure below is a series of fixing brackets. These brackets are places over the length of the U-channel. These supports are used to obtain the correct height of the hydro conveyor for the design. The base mounts are fixed to the floor and the U-channel via bolts. These supports are designed to handle the operating conditions of the hydro conveyor.

The hydro conveyor is used to transport the screenings taken out of the inlet water by the mechanical front rake screen towards the washing screw compactor. The hydro conveyor is an effective method of transporting screenings with minimal wear. The conveyor is sloped to the side of the washing screw compactor with water at the inlet (highest point above ground level) being fed constantly to act as a conveying medium.

It is advised to be skilled in the safe use of the plant, and in the maintenance which needs to be carried out by taking into account both the technical and safety rules.
